*I haven't been migrated yet so it may be different, but that is what I have to do with my domain that I have using google apps.
That's what I expected, but it didn't work for me...

You will still have the address [email protected] . The only difference is that after login, rather than the shitty muss interface, you'll be inside gmail.

Are we able to use the Gmail phone app to access emails? I ask this because i'm pretty sure you need an [email protected] email address to use the app, no?

Ya, it works exactly the same as a normal gmail address (it actually is a gmail address in fact). The only difference is McMaster actually paid to have the "@mcmaster.ca" suffix rather than the "@gmail.com" suffix.

You should even be able to login straight from mail.google.com.

I'm having trouble setting up IMAP too, sounds like it hasn't been configured properly yet. Hopefully after the full migration it'll work...

I'm currently just really hoping that studentmail.mcmaster. ca will stop showing me the privacy agreement. Trying to log in at gmail.com redirects me to the mcmaster privacy agreement, you click agree and it then loads a new page for you to log in at. Pretty much unacceptable.

Theres a migration period for the people currently having their accounts transferred.

Are you saying studentmail.mcmaster. ca and muss.cis.mcmaster.ca are saying your username/password is wrong? Both use the exact same login

Yes, if your account has not been migrated, then that means your account has not been migrated.

For those asking about IMAP support with their mobile or desktop client: from the FAQ:

Quote:
Will I be able to continue to use my email client such as Outlook, or Thunderbird?

Under the current setup using a single sign on, you will not be able to use an email client either in POP or IMAP mode to view your email. You will only be able to use the web interface https://studentmail.mcmaster. ca. McMaster is working closely with Google and a number of other Canadian institutions who have undertaken the transition to Google, to determine the best resolution to allow students to use POP and IMAP connections safely and securely.
