Physics 1L03
Physics 1L03 deals with physics and applications to biological systems. If you havn't taken grade 12 physics, this is the physics for you. It deals with measurement and estimantion, locomotion, forces, torque & balance, and sound waves. If you have taken grade 12 physics, this course won't be...

I had Dr. Nejat and he is by far one of the best profs I had. He is so enthusiastic and fair. He never tells you anything that will screw you. He says '1', he means '1'. Very straight forward guy. Lecture material is not that interesting, but his lectures are. Just go to tutorials and you'll be fine. As the tutorial questions just come one tests and exams. A recommended first year course!

I found this course to be alright...
Dr. Nejat was very good in lectures, his notes are kind of weird, but once you hear him explain something it usually sticks.
He never tells you anything that will screw you over, but I wish he would have helped us to better prepare for tests.
The course breakdown sucks. Enough said.
I did not end up doing very well in this course... A big part of that was the fact that my TA was terrible in tutorial. Dr. Nejat obviously does not have time to go into detailed methods of solving application questions during lecture... TA's are supposed to help us with that sort of thing. I ended up having to [attempt] to teach myself a lot of applications... It wasn't pretty to say the least.
Overall I'd give it a 6 out of 10... Or an official rating of "Meh."

Entering this course with no background in physics whatsoever, I found this class pretty challenging. We were given CAPA questions that we had absolutely no idea how to do based on what we learned in class, and the weekly quizzes in tutorial (worth 27.5% of our overall mark) were quite tricky. I really wish I had taken physics in high school because then this course probably would've been a breeze, but for the most part, people who had never taken physics before found this class challenging and ended up doing poorly.

Physics 1L03 is an introductory physics course for students who haven't taken high school physics, or need a brushup in physics before taking 1B03 (like myself). This course is an absolute bird course if you've taken Grade 12 physics lol.
Topics include kinematics (mind you, it's only 1D; we don't even touch 2D lol), forces, torque, as well as waves/sound. All of these topics should have been covered in high school, with the exception of torque, which was brand new, and some components of the waves unit (i.e. equations for harmonic waves).
One good tip I have for this course is to take the tutorial quizzes seriously. They're worth 27.5% (each one is ~3%), and I've seen some people who don't take them seriously, and it impacts their mark. These quizzes don't require much studying (15 minutes, at most), and they're relatively short (5-10 MC questions).
Midterm was fair, covering everything up to forces. Fair mix of calculations and conceptual questions. The final exam was pretty much the same (do study for the biology questions i.e. anatomy of the ear, as there are 2-3 questions on it!).
Dr. Nejat is a mediocre prof. Didn't like his teaching style, and his accent weakened his ability to explain the material. But he's easy though haha.
Overall, 1L03 is one of the easiest university courses I have taken thus far. If you have grade 12 physics, it will require very minimal effort on your part to do well. Easily a 10++ for those with grade 12 physics.

Dr. Nejat was just horrible at teaching. He can barely write question understandable and his grammar was horrible. His lecturing was nothing, but a babbling with a strong accent. He's just simply horrible.

How useful are the lectures for this class? There seems to be very different opinions on their effectiveness, haha.
