Physics 1L03
Physics 1L03 deals with physics and applications to biological systems. If you havn't taken grade 12 physics, this is the physics for you. It deals with measurement and estimantion, locomotion, forces, torque & balance, and sound waves. If you have taken grade 12 physics, this course won't be...

If you understood all of grade 12 physics this course is definitely an easy 11/12. But if you didn't take physics in high school (or you sucked at it) then your going to have to really work hard in order to understand HOW to do physics.

Actually I didn't take grade 11 or grade 12 physics and I found this course straightforward; theoretically, the course isn't hard at all-- it's just a matter of knowing when to apply which concepts to which questions. Practice with CAPA and the tutorial stuff, and you'll be good to go

Can someone post a new course syllabus for Physics 1L03? And I was wondering, I'm not very math smart so am I headed for doom by taking this course? It's a requirement for my degree

No, not really. I found that 1L03 was pretty basic because it actually retaught the concepts learned from high school like Newtons, kinematics and potential energy. This course goes over concepts more from grade 11 than grade 12 like waves and sound. New concepts not from high school were torque and centre of mass but they were fairly okay to understand. This course doesn't go over energy, momentum and elecricity which was such a relief for me. You should be fine if you go to tutorials and do LONCAPA (like everyone said).

The course is extremely easy if you put in the effort.
Take your time on the weekly quizes (there worth 27% - which is much greater than the mid-term) and study for the final and you should be set.

Text was almost untouched. Many test questions are sourced from the tutorial questions and practice sets. I have no idea whats with the Nejat hate! I think he's brilliant. I admit that following his train of thought can be difficult but if you can follow him you can learn just fine. He's always very willing to help out students, i've been to his office hours a few times. He seems to genuinely enjoy teaching physics. His craziness kept me awake in the morning.

That being said there are beefs I had with physics 1L03.
Firstly, the fact that LONCAPA is NOT up to any 2013 technological standard of digital assignment software. It doesn't give solutions, tell you what you did wrong, and it often lags. Around assignment submission deadlines it will crash frequently.

My other issue is quizzes out of 5 being worth 30% of your grade. That means if you make even a single error per quiz, you've taken a chunk out of your mark already.

So all in all, Nejat is boss, LONCAPA sucks, and study practice sets and tutorial questions thoroughly before exams.
