Switching to Nursing
Hi,

Does anybody know how I can switch into Nursing. I'm in 2nd yr life sciences right now.

Would I have to take first year nursing? I have some courses like bio, anatomy but isn't too sure how I can transfer these credits. Also is it difficult to switch into it? What is the GPA range??

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is probably the accelerated nursing program. It's pretty competitive to get in though.

The School of Nursing at McMaster offers a 2-year BScN Accelerated Stream. Admission to the program is not based on GPA alone. A supplementary application is also required. Check the School of Nursing website for more information.

A few other universities in Ontario also offer an accelerated nursing program. Each university has different requirements, different admission averages, a different number of accepted applicants, etc. so you will have to visit their respective websites to find information.

Yeah it's not suuuper competitive if you have over an 8.5 GPA and u write a solid supp app you should be good. but you need 6 units of physiology 6 units of biochem 3 units stats 6 units psych ..something like that lol to get in. western queens ottawa york are a few ones I know that offer it. or just transfer! apply to ryerson they usually take transfer students, that's where i am now and i did 3 years of life sci at mac

It depends on what school you're interested in. Here are all the schools in Canada that offer the accelerated nursing program. That's your best bet, instead of starting in year 1 nursing all over: http://www.casn.ca/en/114.html

Just google: "name of school + accelerated nursing" for all the requirements and application process.

For McMaster in particular: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...12/pg1354.html
Look under the title "Basic Accelerated (F) Stream"
