yeah I don't really get it, I think it was because they said it would cause me to look to my side in the direction of other peoples tests or something. Still seems stupid to me.

All my midterms so far, I've had people on both sides of me.

Does anyone find that old invigilator really effing creepy? The one with the hood (I'm not sure if it's meant to be a religious garment, or a old person fashion statement) and the bright pink lipstick? She freaks the hell outta me.

People who sign off e-mails and posts on avenue with:
Cheers,
I find a lot of female profs and TAs doing this, and now it's spreading to students as well and pissing me off all the more. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GOOD OLE "Thanks" OR "Regards" OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT'S NOT THE BRITISH "Cheers".
Tell me I'm not the only one... o.o

Dude don't fcuk with the British. They're sexy.
Cheerio

'Regards' is too formal
'Thanks' isn't always appropriate
'Have a good day' is too long
'I wanna touch your bewbs and make your babies' is too obvious

Not exactly. It's more of an appreciative salutation. Not quite as specific as thank you.

When I lived and worked in England over the summer I was a bit confused over what cheers meant..so several times I asked people what it meant. They all told me it meant thank you...but maybe that's just because it was the best way they could think of explaining it...
Side note: The people I worked with thought it was funny when I said "you're welcome" or "thank you" because they just said "cheers". Apparently I spoke all proper

My boyfriend is British
I always tease him and say I only fell in love with him because I liked his accent.
Also..I had a really hard time not giggling with glee everytime people talked. Took me about a month to get over it lol.

The meaning of "Cheers" varies depending on the context it's used in. It can mean thank you, but if you're saying bye to someone, and you say "Cheers, mate", it becomes 'See you later"
