I hope there isn't a third list for transfer students! I think they only allocate 10 rooms for transfer students so we won't have a chance! This is getting more frustrating by the minute.

So, I emailed residence & housing - still don't understand how this whole waiting list thing works - I'm not even sure they do! Anyway, they did assure me that there are only 2 lists - upper (includes transfer students) and first year - they also assured me that people receive spots based on the date they applied and that nobody is passing anybody on the list. I'm thinking their # system is out of whack cuz how could I be #87 and other people who applied before me be #103. Out of curiosity TanyaMac, can you recall approx what date you would have applied to residence? This might give us an idea whether we're ever going to see any movement.

Anyone know where I go to check what room I'm in? I can't find anything in my application even after I've made my deposit.

Hey, I'm having some problems with my living off-campus arrangements. I was wondering if there was any hope of living on res. Is it even too late to think about it??

I would say most likely, but applying won't hurt. The upper year list just started to move and someone earlier in the thread said they applied late and got a number over 300 (I don't remember if it was first or upper year). I wouldn't count on getting in if you were to apply this week though. I applied before the deadline in May and got 140, now am down to 78 on the first year list, and am sitll not sure if I will get a spot.

I think it really depends - the person who was 300 was on the 1st year list. There are actually 2 waiting lists - a 1st year and upper year list. Basically, there are so many rooms allocated to 1st yr students and so many allocated to upper years (I believe 20%). If a first year drops out of res, their room then goes to the next person on the 1st year list but if an upper year drops out, then their room goes to the next upper year student on the list. It seems to me that the upper year list may not be as long as the 1st year list cuz I don't think there is as much demand for upper year students wanting res. My son applied on June 1 as he is a transfer student and didn't get his acceptance until then. He started out at #87 and is now #51. If you are an upper year student, you may still have a chance - just depends on how long you want to wait and take the gamble. I'm sure as time goes on, people will just give up and go find off campus housing. I think I would apply - you don't have to pay any deposit until you get accepted and if you find something else, you can just cancel your application. Hope this helps with your dilemma.

Wow, #5 - I'm guessing you have a great shot at getting in! I'm still not sure if our #'s are sequential on a separate upper year list or if we are sporadically mixed in with the overall list (1st & upper) Hopefully we keep jumping like this - Keep us posted when you get in! I'm hoping they can accomodate everyone!

I think they only update it like once a week so there's some delay. My son applied June 1 and was given #87 on the waiting list and this week was the first time he moved and jumped to #51. If you're worried about it you can always call the Residence office at (905)525-9140 x24342 or email them at [email protected] - I've emailed a couple of times and they generally get back to you within a day. Good luck.
