Ya - i guess that now that there's no refund available, there's no incentive for them to cancel their application. It would be nice if people who aren't taking the room would actually let someone know so the waiting listers aren't left stressing out for the whole summer! Did any upper years happen to move this week - we're still at 51 and haven't budged at all!

Oh man, I would be pretttttty annoyed if I were number 4... I'm number 19 and I check my email every second to see if anything has changed...
Wow imagine what it would be like to be number 1 after that BIG move... Sucks poo

Are these because of rescinded offers, or, solely from people opting not to live on campus?

That's great - I wish I could say the same for the upper year list - it hasn't moved for over a week now.

Checked with the res admissions again today - they did confirm that there are two separate lists - one for first year and one for upper year. They really don't want to commit to anything - here's the answer I got:
We continue to assign rooms as cancellations occur, if you have not seen movement this is due to the lack of cancellations. It is difficult to predict the chances of receiving residence. As all our rooms are currently booked we may only give wait list students residence offers as spaces become available through cancellations. I encourage you to log onto your online application and view your wait list number periodically. If you are uncomfortable with your number please consider your off campus housing options.
There is a separate upper year and first year wait list. You are on the upper year wait list with 51 students ahead of you. We have specific rooms for upper and first year students. In order for you to receive an offer 51 upper year students will need to withdraw from residence.
So anyone know when I should start feeling "uncomfortable with my number"? You think they could at least give some info based on what has happened in the past - it's not like we're looking for a committment, just some guidance based on what they've done in the past.
Sheesh!

I would say that if you don't see a significant improvement in your number in the next 2 weeks there is a very strong chance that you won't get in. It wouldn't hurt to start looking at some off campus housing adds and getting a feel for what is out there.

Exactly! I have emailed them numerous times and you just get the same reply every time. "We can't say.. check out off campus housing if you are uncomfortable." If they would tell us what the average number is from the past few years, that would be extremely helpful.

Ya really - maybe they could elaborate on when we should start feeling "uncomfortable"! We're obviously all uncomfortable until we get the email saying we're in!!!

Anyone want to get a group of us together to start looking for houses? It's just about August and I feel like some back up plans should start being made!
