Try to stay on top of things! Since you're not tested as often, it's easy to neglect all the school work and only study for midterms, but you'll be drowning in work if you do that since midterms are usually clustered around the same time periods.

I wished I knew titles was a rip off. Never buy new textbooks.

looking back on first year, definitely wished I learned how to balance everything and actually studied and applied the time I had more usefully. I also wish I got involved in extra curricular events/activities more but hey, live and learn xD

Sleep on time- its really easy to miss an 8:30 class because you were up too late, and this'll catch up to you sooner or later!

I don't think I can agree. Well, at least not about Engineering. For example, let's say you have a first year student who is only interested in Software Engineering..they are forced to take courses like Chemistry, Physics, etc.

Just to clarify this: your prof actually chooses the edition. The bookstore does not choose the books whatsoever, your prof orders the ones they want.

Go to frosh week/faculty events ! They're actually pretty fun and you get to meet a lot of great people. Don't waste your frosh week partying all day and night- you have the rest of the year for that.
